Monica came to Bal Niketan with her brother, Devender, after their parents had died. At that time Monica was nine years old and her brother about 10. Inspite of having relatives staying in Chandigarh, Monica and her brother had to lead a life of orphans. Her grandparents came to visit her just once, and that on her marriage. After matriculation, Monica opted to do a crash course in nursing from the PGI. The Inner Wheel club bore expenses of the course. After completing her education she got a job in a private eye hospital in Patiala. When she became 20, Monica was married to Narinder, who is working as a Chartered Accountant in Patiala. It was a day of joy for the entire "home" for the destitute orphans at Bal Niketan when the marriage festivities took place on our campus.
